Recently read Bob Rotella's book regarding putting and he mentions using a chalk line to use as a putting training aid. looks like a simple but effective aid to me. Has anyone ever tried using one?

I wouldnt mind trying one at the practice green at my local range but a bit concerned the manager/grounds staff might go mental if I mark the green. Is it easy cleaned up/removed?

If you watch the PGA Tour "In the Bag" series on Youtube, quite a large number of tour pros use similar aids to get their putting line. One of the best ones I saw was Luke Donald, who merely has a piece of string tied between two chop sticks that he places into the ground. Saves wiping up chalk and is instantly reusable.

I use the the string line like Luke Donald which is great for using on breaking putts the downside to the chalk line is that you have to get the line spot on straight off while you can constantly move the string line for different speeds.
