Category 1 golfers

I used to know a guy who would have got to cat 1 that quickly. He was 21, but had retired age 17 (sold a software company he started when he was 14, and would not have to work again). He played govlf for about a 6 month period, and towards the end regularly shot level par. His handicap could not keep up at all. If he had held off getting a handicap for about 3 months, he would have gone straight in at 5.5. That ssaid, he had lessons every day, and played / practiced all day, lke a pro.

He got bored, and quit.

I met a guy who started playing age 14, was 3 handicap within a year and +something a year later. But he has now won on the PGA Tour, so probably something of an exception!

I wouldnt believe this guy for 1 minute unless i could physically see him play....

Think about it for a minute....Anyone could be perceived as Cat1 depending on who was marking their cards....Its playing to it that poses the problem....

I know of a guy that used to call himself a scratch golfer and i enquired about how good he really was....

The answer i was given..."Its possible to make you Cat1 as well Mike, if you had someone to doctor your cards....
