Hi,

I am playing at Castle Combe on the Manor House course on Wednesday. Anyone played it? Is it any good?

Thanks,

Snelly.

Very nice. Some cracking holes, but I recommend a buggie!
Ist and 2nd holes fairly straightforward, but then it starts to get really interesting.
Only ever played it the once but I can still remember a lot of the holes which is always the mark of a good course.
But I suggest a buggie

Snelly, played it last week and the condition is not great to be honest. Not trying to be rude but they let anyone and everyone on now for £30 even at weekends and it is showing the signs of being hacked up.

The layout is still very good and some of the holes are very spectacular. Not long at all, just need to plot your way round.

Members are leaving in their droves, their fees are £2k a year but Johnny Pub society golfer will hold them up all weekend for his £30.

Good par 3 where you shoot down to the bottom of the valley to a green surrounded by a brook (17). Some other very nice looking holes but its a helluva walk tbh

I have played the course quite a few times over the years. It is challenging. ( I live about 20 minutes away )
If you are fit I would recommend an electric trolley as you have to follow the buggy path. If you hit the wrong shot on some holes it's a long way from buggy to ball.
Just be prepared if you walk it that from top to bottom it's some 150 - 200 feet and you do it four times!

Clubs mostly TM
H/C 13.7 and going up (well I am 67)

Hi,
Played it last year, walked it and my legs knew it the next day,but some very nice holes on the course, was offered membership for this year,no joining fee,£1500 fee plus you have to put £750 on your bar card, not tempted, even though I will be hopefully moving about 10 minutes away in about 3 weeks time, but will be looking at Kingsdown nr Box though.

but will be looking at Kingsdown nr Box though.

My old course mate , lovely free draining course where you can be flooded in the morning and playing without water in sight in the afternoon. Still got many friends playing there

Good luck hope you enjoy your stay

Nice course and some very nice holes, worth £30 but do not try to walk it, the hills will kill you. Best played in summer months with a buggy!!
