looking to do the 3 day deal at carnoustie next year in march but im thinking do they make you use mats in fairways in march like st andrews does or do they just let you get on with it?

I'm not 100% sure of the situation now ,but St Andrews used to alternate which courses used mats, so if there were mats being used on the New Course, then The Jubillee wasn't and vice versa. Of course ther is also the option of knocking the ball into the first cut of rough and playing from there. The links rough is very thin at that time of the year so very playable.
Not sure about Carnoustie though. Why not give them a ring and ask them.
