The past 6yrs ive had a van & now have 6yr NCB.
I got rid of the van last week end as I no longer needed it & I bought a car,
I've just been informed by Swinton insurance that I can't use my NCB because they are from van insurance.
As anyone had this problem?
Is there any way around it?
Seems crazy to me.

It's to do with commercial use as opposed to domestic, social and pleasure use.

I agree its a stupid rule, as you've gained more experience from driving your work van a lot more than you probably would've the car.

There might be a few insurers who will recognise your NCB but you might have to do a bit of leg work or try through a broker.

I managed to get it sorted. In the last year my van was insured for domestic & pleasure use,so managed to transfer NCB to car insurance.
Cheers.

Drives me mad. I have in the past moved between cars & motorcycles, and currently have both. When going from one to the other mode, it would always be that they would never recognise the NCB from the alternative mode, but would always insist on knowing about accidents or claims and loading you accordingly.

Whilst there's a need for motor insurance it should be more closely regulated as they are a bigger bunch of shysters than bankers IMO.
