Car insurance.....

The only saving grace is teh ms60 comes off my licence in june, meaning nexts years should be alot cheaper, the merrkats wanted 450 without the ms60, and 700 with it, bloody expensive call that over 5 years.

Unless I was duped, my Insurance broker told me that a majority of Insurers add an extra year on to any license endoresements/penalty points. Therefore, even if your points are removed from your license after 4 years, they are still factored in by the Insurance companies for 5 years - reason unknown!

Hope I am wrong but that was my experience last year....

i did hear that , which i think is a bit of a pisstake, surely if the law deem them valid for 3 years, why should insurance companies penalise you for an extra 2 years.

I will stand up a bit for the insurance company view abit here. Firstly an MS60 wont go down well with the insurers as it gives them no idea what you actually did. As you say it could be on the phone it could be something else but the amount of people that lie to them on a daily basis they wont believe its just for speeding or something as they will believe the police in the fact that they would of given you the correct code.

Secondly a driving conviction is a criminal offence. Criminal offences stay with you for 5 years hence why the insurers have to leave them on your records for 5 years and you are legally bound to state this when asked by anyone if you have a criminal offence. (obviously in car insurance they will take this under the driving convictions part) If you have any other offences you are also duty bound to tell people. Driving convictions come off your license after 4 years but you still have the criminal offence unfortunately.

I dont know if you have been doing it online but you should really ring up these places and maybe try and explain they may give you a better deal, try the likes of Allen & Allen, Peter Best, Osborne & son, Adrian Flux them kind of companies may give you a better deal than the online companies.

cheers jammag, im not sure why i was given this number as i should have been billed with a cu80, but likewise can understand that people twist the truth when getting quotes.

im going to try a couple of the ones mentioned, but so far its been a full day of getting quotes in the 1000+ mark, only tesco come in under a grand, my current insurer has given me 705.... im seriously thinking of just biting the bullet.

I reckon its because you put that Cobra AMP in it makes it a target !!

Seriously - the riots hit the CR postcodes really bad, I'm finding it for home insurance quotes I sometimes do for clients.

Cant blame the insurers, you can imagine the amount of claims they had last year !

an offence not covered by any other conviction codes. basically if the cop had put it down as a CU80, use of a mobile device while driving, i wouldnt be getting hammered.

swintons... 1230

So using your mobile while driving, bet you were eating some cheicken nuggets with the other hand

while touching myself singing im too sexy for my nuggets

Thought as much

I picked up a sp10 last year, told Directline and they pumped up my insurance by £246 a year. Complained like mad, pointed out I had been a loyal Customer for 10 years, as a good will gesture they knocked of 15 quid, as a good will gesture to them, I cancelled my policy there and then and hooked up with the Admiral.

well the plus side is my current agent is cheapest i can find by 300.00, now im stuck with another option. my current insurance is 705, if i wait until june it goes down to 545 when the conviction come off, it could be more viable to have a 6 month policy, and then in june re insure with a 12 month policy ....... hmmm

My lad in his mid 30's driving a ST170 found Sheila's Wheels gave him the best quote! This is with a couple speeding offences to his name plus he works in the motor trade which never helps.. By leaving a former girlfriend as a named driver he saved a further 25 notes...
