Any mechanics who can advise me on this please?
Daughter buying first car - Fiesta. Test drove the car and thought there was clutch slippage on gearchnge but noticed that the clutch biting point quite high (compared to my car anyway). Once I adapted changes to this there didn't seem to be any slipping during the drive and pick up under acceleration was fine. Did the traditional test (put the car into 4th gear, handbrake on and let the clutch in slowly and it stalled the engine OK).

Is a high biting point (about 3/4 way up the travel) a sign of trouble :D

How old is the car and what mileage? Not sure if they are still a cable clutch or not. If it is may just need ajusting. If its hydrolic in may be near the end. But it does depend if you drive on the clutch or not. Sorry best guess without knowing more.

A clutch change if the car is otherwise perfect would not be a deal breaker. As long as this is reflected in the price it wouldn't put me off.
