Can anyone tell me what the job description is for a seniors captain, ours doesn't have any sway with the club ,just the senior fiddlers, or where I could find somewhere that may know.
Looks like our vice captain( soon to be captain) as started flexing his muscles and decided that he should be in charge and involved with every thing, taking charge of our fiddles ,and always cocking them up ,he thinks he is important but he has know idea of the rules and how to conduct himself on the course.
I know you say tell him but we cant change the captain...help
Thanks

Poor choice of Captain? Coup likely?

He needs to be told jut what his role does/doesn't entail - each Club my vary, but controlling everything (badly) is not the norm!

At our club he heads up the seniors committee (and annoys the main committee). Their committee basically run all of their senior only events and contribute to various charity and other "general" days.

He certainly wouldnt be in charge of the roll up etc (someone else on the committees would be)

Its up to the current Capt to guide him so that he is ready when he takes over. I suggest a gentle word with the current Capt. If that fails, you're stuffed...

I know of a number of clubs whose constitution does not allow the existence of a Seniors Captain on the grounds that he may subvert the authority of the Club Captain.

Can anyone tell me what the job description is for a seniors captain,.....

we don't have one so can't really help in that context; will be down to your club and it's documentation.

we do have a Seniors representative on the Main Committee, who is also the main seniors organiser. He organises the 12 senior match captains (we appoint an individual to the role of organiser and match 'Captain' for each club we have a fixture with and it's a job for life!). Many are ex club captains.

as Hobbit suggests, the person/people to speak to about current captains is/are the previous/ex captains.

IMO the Mens Senior Captain and Ladies Captain should be members of the club main committee.
There sections should be 'self' organised within the overall frame of the Club.

The trouble arises when the Seniors appoint a person who wants to go well above his remit, unfortunately this happens a lot.
Club staff and greenstaff generally get more grief from selfish male seniors than the rest of the membership combined.
