Captains' Away Weekend - courses needed please

Foxhills the place to go....

For the price I think with the facilities and restaurant etc is excellent.

But then seeing as I know nothing about this event, despite being a member, my opinion is not needed ...:D

You're not invited, mate! ;)

Foxholer's right on both counts (see above); very strange pricing, and may be out of people's price range also.

Just in case anyone's interested (other than Scott, who's still not invited!), we've gone for Old Thorns.

£159 for 36 holes, dinner, B&B seemed pretty reasonable, and when I popped down to check the hotel and facilities out (which look really good!), I was offered a free round, so joined the Golf Co-ordinator and a friend for 18 holes. Really nice course, with some really outstanding holes. Couple of "meh" ones, but on the whole, really liked it.

They've added a couple of extras for the Captains, and we can also choose to add nights/rounds even after paying the deposits,, up until total payable (7 days prior to arrival), something that ESN wouldn't do for us.

The Oxfordshire wanted me to select one starter, main and desert for all 36 golfers, which I was not happy about at all, so left them alone.

Special mention should go to Collingtree and the Hilton at Collingtree, for making me a very generous offer, with some great free additions, but in the end, they were just a bit too far away.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts and will send a proper review of the whole place next year.

Cheers all!

You'd think that the bloke who actually suggested Old Thorns in the first place might have got an invite

:(
Much as I'd love to invite you, it's Westerham members only, Smiffy.

However, many thanks for the suggestion!

Sorry, fella, but if you fancy Westerham some time, you have only to ask
:)
