Vauxhall rang me to ask if I wanted to trial and feedback their new Insignia 2.8 v6 325hp insignia......

I of course said no, I don't like fast cars  (astra diesel estate that can on a good day keep up with the likes of a bmw m3, courtesy of friend who runs his own diesel tuning business)

so I'm getting one on 2nd Feb for just short of a week

Wonder if golf clubs fit in it sideways they don't in the last 2 new shape astra's, they did in the previous squarish one.

It might have 325 hp, but it will still handle like a Vauxhall. It will also be front wheel drive, which is not good with that many horses. Then it will develope a petrol leak, which typically poors petrol down the outside of the exhaust manifold.

I love Vauxhalls.

Nope 4wd :D with 2/4wd selection button.

Love the remaps though. £500 for 26hp peak.... However mid range is 100hp gain and over 150lbs torque gain.

I still prefer diesels, much easier to tune, and if you over labour the engine in low revvs, when the turbo kicks you off, that Porche convertible is not only covered in soot, but is also left behind.... Had similar, bloke in a boxter S, couldn't believe that although he put his foot down from lights onna dual carriage way, an astra diesel estate next to him, came from a car length behind, with roofbox on too, left him behind like he was driving a lada. :whoo:

My main issue is the new insignia is 2.4tonne.... that's 1tonne heavier than my astra estate.... might not actually be that much quicker, considering the torque figures are similar.

Its a bit like all these new clubs around , its more to do with the guy using it ha , proper equipment in proper hands will always work well ..

Yeah FWD is fine as long as Clarkson's not driving LOL. He complains at the torque steer on the VXR at 236lbs torque, when the diesels are kicking out 340lbs without a problem ;)

You guys say that but the new Focus 300+ BHP but has a clever diff and suspension for better handling.

I'm not saying it's better than rear wheel drive, but Mr Clarkson seems to like it.
