....... the day before a competition?

IMO you can, but someone thinks you are not allowed and may be D/Q'd.

I always assumed you could not practice ON THE COURSE the same day as a competition. Am I right?

Day before? Why not, im sure you can.

Same day - you can not if its stroke play (medal or stableford later but i'm sure you can if your going to be playing matchplay later.

It's a recollection and i think its right. someone will correct me (moan...haha) if i'm wrong though

Yes no problem day before a comp if you think about it the pros play practice rounds the day before

Same day is not allowed unless its matchplay where you can play the course just before if you want to

You are right. The *someone* is an arse.

You could play 18 finishing at 10 o'clock and then tee it up at 6.00am the next morning, no problem.
If you can't, someone better 'phone my club and have me permanently DQd.

Whats been said, as far as I am aware.....

yes - sameday allowed if you are playing Matchplay later....

No - not allowed to play on course if you are playing Medal/Stableford same day.

However, - you arent allowed to 'Practise' on most courses. Sure, I'd get away with playing a couple of balls on each hole at my course, but hit 5/6 Wedges to any green & I'd be in deep sh1t with the Committee if spotted.

Isnt that the same at most courses ? :D

Pretty sure you can play a medal or stablefird first and then go out on the same day and play a matchplay.

Of course you can play the day before. Its a different day, different conditions and usually the greenstaff cut new pins for a competition. Whoever said you couldn't is either misinformed or telling you porkies
