Hmmm....judicail reviews eh  The establishment investigating the establishment  Let me think for a minute just how that might turn out  :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Funny how the public scream for judicial reviews on everything when things aren't going their way but never accept a result that doesn't suit their politics.

I think ALL judicial reviews, much like police investigations are loaded, c'mon, the establishment investigating the establishment :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Its a very emotive subject where thinks can and have got out of hand in the past - the thread wasnt created so that people can start up that again.

If people want to talk about that incident maybe start a seperate thread for it
Excuse me but since when were you given the authority and right to tell people what they can and can’t say and what subject they are allowed to talk about. Until that point I would suggest you wind your neck in and allow people their own opinion

Take your own advice Phillip 👍🏻

Phil, you started a loaded thread where it’s clear you want support on the fact that you don’t like the idea of the armed forces not commanding full respect of the public. When people disagree and give examples of why they don’t give that full respect you try to say it’s off topic and the wrong thread.

I don’t think the debate has ruined this thread

The thread is about Rememberance Sunday and what happened with the students not what happened in Derry that day. If you want to find something to score points on go find a less emotive subject.

Back to the original post, I think its disappointing to me as I was brought up to respect the sacrifice made by servicemen across both world wars and all the other conflicts. However I am not surprised and it seems an indication of where these establishments are going, They've courted controversy before. It won't impact my take on it and I'll continue to mark my own respects and wear my poppy with pride. To me it's important and I think modern society still needs to be encouraged to remember the sacrifices. It's still having an impact (Aftghanistan etc) and the H4H stuff we're involved in reinforces that

It wasn’t loaded at all - it was clear as day , I didn’t like the fact that a group of people were looking to not show respect and remembrance for people who gave their lives for our freedom - it was no surprise that the thread went downhill the moment you arrived and then brought Bloody Sunday into it - but it’s great that used the tradegy to try and prove a point and also score points on internet - says a lot about you.

The thread has moved on from that. Not scoring points just not agreeing with your opinion.

Nothing like reading opinions about conflicts largely based on personal bias and held political ideology. Move on, nothing to learn here

Do you really think I take pleasure from events that helped keep Northern Ireland in the dark ages? Grow up. Not everything that isn’t what you agree with is point scoring.

So tell me why you bring into the discussion when you know exactly the reaction its going to get ? Its not the first timne ?

Nothing has changed

But its not the only area the UK forces have been involved in over the last 100 years - hundreds and thousands of peacekeeper forces from the UK shouldnt be judged on that dark event - it shouldnt define or over shaow decades of good work from the Armed Services and it shouldnt even overshadow that right now there are people working 24 hours a day 365 days a year trying to keep you and your family safe - the only thing they prob expect is just a thank you and when one of them loses his or her life a moment of remembrance

I think we should always remember and respect those that choose to defend us.

I don’t neccessarily agree with all the conflicts we’ve (and our allies) have chosen to defend. But, the boots in the ground have my utmost respect.

Summed up perfectly (y)
