Callaway balls have a reputation of being a bit hard for most people's liking but having used and like the HX Diablo Tour through the winter I decided to give the HEX Black Tour a go. Most of you will have seen the review I did on the 2013 Srixon Z-Star for GM and how much I liked it but having played both balls over the last few weeks I think the HEX Black is starting to come out on top. It's harder than the Z-Star, not as hard as previous incarnations like the Tour i(s) but slightly harder than the Z-Star but without doing any real scientific testing I would say that it spins more around the green and appears to be longer to boot. I played 9 holes with a couple of balls last night and the HEX Black was consistently further down the fairway and carried further with my irons.
It's a bit clicky off the driver but not so much that I can't live with it given the performance. All in all, it's a great ball, don't let your previous experience with Callaway balls put you off trying it, this is a very different beast.
