Maybe inadequate healthcare and education is the natural defense against excess population growth![]()
Yes that's worked well for nations like Kenya.

The bad planning was encouraging mass immigration and increased birthrates.Surely it is more a case of bad planning, rather than blaming the old, or immigrants, or any other group.

Can you have massive population growth without massive pressures on public services like the NHS and Education. Why do we only hear of the aging population being the problem with the NHS with no mention of population growth fueled by mass immigration. Wait a minute, that would be racist to blame immigration and the effect it has on the birth rate, better to blame it all on our old people.
I imagine many parts of the country have found themselves under pressure overnight when it comes to Schools and Doctors surgery's.
local to me there is a Doctors that services a smallish part of Inverness. There is a housing estate close by, most of the houses have been sold in the RTB scheme. this includes a couple of 3 story blocks of flats, which on the whole were inhabited by single people and the odd old couple. almost overnight the there were lots of Eastern European families moving in ( all working) and the demand for the Doc and local schools trebled. there are two Teachers who live at the end of my road. both told me the classes on the whole were quite small, now all fit to bursting. Same with the docs. you could get an appointment same or next day, now its 3 weeks before one is available.
Scotland needs immigration as it has a declining population, esp young people. One the whole Local and national Gov were caught out by the 2nd lot of Eastern European countries that joined the EU and and many coming to work here has had a knock on effect to a certain extent
How can it be sorted by public spending when there are massive cuts to public spending. If the flats were built to be able to house families - the fact that families now live in them and local GPs and schools may be struggling to accommodate the families - suggests inadequacies in the infrastructure provided for the housing. But that can be sorted through public spending - and as the families are as you say - all working families - then more money will be coming in through income tax and council tax. Provisioning additional infrastructure shouldn't really be a problem...
But nobody should be worrying - because once we have got back control of our immigration ...blah blah blah
Actually - I suspect that the numbers aren't going to drop that much because we'll need the immigration - though as we'll be able to control it - we'll be able to plan for the infrastructure required and build it where it is needed.
Further if the biggest issue with the younger demographic in the UK is obesity - I suggest that obesity is less of an issue for the immigrant community..
Good point. We need to stop fighting against obesity and bring back sexy branding to smoking, along with reducing the tax on fags. Let natural selection run its course![]()
Imagine the benefit to the environment.Just imagine the benefits of a falling population
No need to build new housing/roads/schools/hospitals etc
No queues at the post office/dentist/doctors etc
Operation sir? Certainly, how about this Friday, am or pm?
And the roads............

Imagine the benefit to the environment.
Falling population is a win win win win win etc
You forgot to mention how easy it would be to get a decent tee time...
Sorry, you're right.
That's six 'wins'
And easier to get a lesson
House prices would drop
Less competition for jobs/promotion
Kids could play on the streets again
HS2 cancelled
Smaller classrooms
Etc
Capitalism fails.
The economy fails.
Mass job losses.
Poverty through the roof.
Civil riots.
Etc etc etc......... 
So a bit like voting in a Corbyn led Labour government then.![]()
This is the argument that always pops up in my local ward. Where do these 400 families go to the doctor, how fit they onto already full buses? If the flats were built to be able to house families - the fact that families now live in them and local GPs and schools may be struggling to accommodate the families - suggests inadequacies in the infrastructure provided for the housing.
