I've been to St. Andrews a couple of times golfing before and know what a nice place Scotland is but I just got back from a few days in the Cairngorm mountains. Wow!!:clap::clap:

I've never been skiing before and the friend I mentioned it to has a sister in Aviemore and so he planned a trip for us to all go up there to ski. I said why not? It would be a great way to see what it was all about so we went up on Friday just gone for a long weekend.

We actually stayed at a resort on the Spey Valley Golf club, a split level chalet adjacent to the one of the fairways (5th I think). Anyway we did some clay shooting and walking for a day or two but the main treat was a day spent on the mountain skiing.

What a great looking place, snow covered mountains , pine forests, lochs, even blue sky at times!! I could easily have been in Canada, Italy or wherever.

I will definitely be doing it again and highly recommended if like me you haven't done anything like this before. we spent the day with John and his daughter (instructors) on the beginner slopes. They were lovely and so patient, they had to be with me!! Big pizza, little pizza, Big pizza little pizza, the kids were natural (they have no fear of looking an ass or hurting themselves) , the other half was also very good but it was very enjoyable even though I spent most time on my backside.

My mate had his stag weekend in Aviemore and it was brilliant. It's a great place for all kinds of outdoorsy action, in summer or winter, and it's absolutely stunning. If you're ever up in summer, there are some nice golf courses up that way too.

Glad you enjoyed your first attempt. Great way to have a holiday and you lose weight at the same time.

Recommend Italy if you want something reasonably priced. I always found it frustrating skiing in Scotland with it changing from not being able to get to/on the slopes because they couldn't cope with SNOW! To when the conditions being good, lifts being horrendous with the amount of people trying to get up the mountain.
