mostly used off ebay, in fact almost exclusively off ebay. anything knock off is pretty easy to spot from the listing.

only had one fake turn up and that was dealt with quickly through ebay dispute.

I think buying new (full retail price) is only justified if you want a fitted set of clubs.

For everything else, used should be fine, or massivley discounted models from the previous years.

Had a guy offering me a Callaway Great Big Bertha driver today for £185 that had only been used for 2 rounds. Said he worked for an independent golf retailer but preferred if I paid him via PayPal as their not based from a shop.

That does sound a bit sketchy to me, to be honest... I'm not sure how that may or may not affect PayPal's buyer protection (slightly exaggerated: if I was to send money to a Nigerian prince via PayPal who promised me a share of his father's fortune in return, I would expect PayPal to refund my money...)

Other than my new cf16's, I won't buy new other than bags.

Ew. Not even shoes? Socks? Underwear?

Had terrific success over the years buying second-hand and would certainly do this again. Most recent stuff has been new although that's only because I've been after something very specific and rarely change equipment anymore.

All new, albeit generally not the latest model out. One exception is the driver, but bought that from a mate that I've known for 15 years.

Tend to use the club shop if at all possible.

at the moment the only SH club in the bag is my Xhot2 pro hybrid, but prev all the woods were SH and not so long ago my irons were too.

We do rather well up here for used gear, always bargains in the 3 privately owned Pro shops and one of these has a deal to get ex rental stuff from CS every year, and that stuff is hardly used.

I'll normally buy new either using pro shop winnings for current models or the online golf suppliers for previous models if there are good deals or I know exactly what I'm looking for.

Isn't it just, I had to take the labels off the used clubs I got from them! Like new wasn't an accurate enough description

i got the xhot pro 3 wood, and 2 hybrids and all 3 still had the little round red paper sticker on the sole saying "stiff". Id have been surprised if they had been used full stop.

didn't see what clubs they had last year and only played there a couple of times
