Played an open at Burton on Trent GC on Sunday. Eight of us went and the reviews were unanimously positive. Friendly welcome from the pro, a very good and reasonably-priced breakfast, course was in a fantastic condition with some interesting and challenging holes, and a delicious and generous carvery afterwards. I play dozens of opens every year and this is right up there with the best that I've experienced.

And you hit one of the best shots in your life into the 18th green.

It was just a pity it turned out to be the wrong ball.

About 32 of us from my club had a 27-hole day out there a few years ago.
A great place for that kind of do. I would happily go again.
I liked the shortish dogleg 11th. And the 18th was lovely - quite different from the rest of the course.

Course has some similarities to my own club. Mainly the trees.
BTW - there is an opportunity for a free round at mine - see Midlands Forum Link.
