Our bunkers are not the fluffy deep sand kind, in fact they are a bit sparse when it comes to sand ( they are due for a refill shortly) What is the bast technique from a bunker with not a lot of sand? the standard splash shot is out of the question.

I had a mare last weekend in a rain compacted bunker where I picked it clean and ended up in a nightmare position. When I next practice and they are sodden I'm going to give chipping out a try.

I square the clubface and go for a sort of punchy kerthump.

:D

I never saw that in the PGA teaching manual :D :D ;)

Our bunkers are sand on clay so if the bunkers aren't raked properly, the sand gets a bit thin.
What I do is make sure I hit down and through the shot, lifting out some of the clay in the process. It's sometimes the only way to get the club under the ball. Works well on wet sand too.
