Morning all

I broke my collarbone Christmas morning when I came off my bike and it's nearly 9 weeks since the incident and I feel almost back to normal. I need to steadily begin strengthening my shoulder/arm/back and obviously need to get back playing golf.

Just over 4 weeks now until I'm playing at the Woburn meet but wondered if anyone else has had this injury and has any tips or advice on how to recover for golf.

I'm off to Cheltenham in a couple of weeks and wasn't planning on full swinging a golf club until after this which means I'll have less than 2 weeks until the meet. Am tempted this week to go have a few putts and practice close to the green chipping so I dont have to full swing.

broke mine in 1995 playing football, ended up having a bone graft, pins & plate and still isnt right. I was back to work as a chef within 6 weeks though with no issues, it was the surgery after that (apparently it hadn't healed properly so they felt it best to operate).

if it was a standard break then 6 weeks and it should be good to go, I would just make sure you do stretching exercises to work the area around it as a lay off from use will leave tendons & muscle tight/weak. Apart from that I wouldnt worry too much about it aslong as your xrays gave you the all clear.

Enjoy Woburn

Thanks mate, the break has meant that I will always have bone sticking up but went back to see fracture clinic Monday just gone and they offered surgery to place artificial ligaments in my arm to pull the bone back down but as I feel ok with it I decided against the surgery.

broke mine at Judo, the 'crack' sounded like a pistol going off and I screamed like a girl, wincing even thinking about it, glad you've recovered in time for the season

haha, I also was like a big girl. jumping for a header against the police, big lump jumped into me and crack... the ref told me to 'get up ya big girl'!! I crawled off in agony, no stretchers etc in sunday league oop North :p
