Cracking food scene in Brum' - Purnells & Adams are particularly good

Feel free to start an interesting topic.

I’ll wait.

Waste of time trying it's tumbleweed in there. Most folk on here these days are more interested in football than golf.

Boring is a tough one to judge. Nicest, most horrible etc are quite easy but boring, by definition, makes places forgettable in a way that the best and worst are not. On that basis, I am genuinely struggling to throw out a boring place but I am sure I have been to plenty.

I was also told as a kid that being bored meant I was a boring person - as I couldn't find anything to do. Not sure what that says about the person who wrote the article :censored:

Depends what you define boring to be. People will probably find the Dales boring as there's nothing really to do ?

Not sure you can class a place boring. Birmingham for example, great bar/night scene, heard loads about the food options and variety etc. Boring? Probably more not your thing.

Ever been to Goodison Park or Turf Moor tonight.

Talking of which, not boring, only word association, where is PaulJ these days?

Paul is taking a break. He is fine ?.

Turf Moor won't be boring tonight for those involved. For everyone else it could be a slog ?. Masses of tension, you could power the grid from it ?

I always remember travelling from Salford Quays to Altrincham for a night out ahead of the cup semi-final in 1999. The quiet suburban train we were on stopped at a place called Timperley.....about 600 people (or so it seemed) got on the train.

To this day I wonder what Timperley is really like, but on that day there seemed to be a mass exodus that indicated life there wasn't much fun.

(Altrincham was a cracking night out by the way)

I was born in Timperley but left when I was 6, a good while ago ?. My gran lived there most of her life and so I used to go back until the late 90's when she died. Timperley was a village, nice 1930's houses, infant and primary schools, open spaces on the edge of Manchester. It developed into real commuter belt territory, for Manchester and the airport. My grans house was bought by a pilot for example. The housing outgrew the amenities which is why people from there would have got on the train, now the tram, to go to Altrincham or Manchester. I don't know if bars, restaurants etc have developed there now, haven't been back for a while.

It wouldn't be fair to call it boring but I understand your logic.

The centre of altrincham has had a real regeneration incidentally so a night out might be even better now ?

Hartlepool is pretty grim. On my last trip there I generously awarded it “Armpit of The Universe” status. And that’s some accolade from someone with close links to both Leicester and Coventry, let me tell you.
