I've not managed to shoot 100 for a long time, but today, it was on. 43 out, 9 over, meant all my shots had gone, so I had nothing to distract myself from the target.
So a bogey on 10 was a blow, but rescued by a 9 down 11 meant it was back on. An 8 on the par 5 12th followed by a 7 on the par 5 13th (good putt from 30 ft) brought the target score within range. Followed by a poor run of form, a bogey, followed by a double, left a lot to do. Stupid accidental par on 16. No accounting for that. Bad luck happens to every one.
Good drive down 17. Hard to get anything from there. Rescued by a massive hook into the trees. Provisional nestled by the pin, but lucky to find the original in an unplayable lie. 7. The dream is still alive.

Then lapse of concentration. Drive down 18, then tried to hook a hybrid into the woods, but missed by miles. Took my favourite shanking club, miss hit it right out of the sweet spot to 12 ft, and two putted for a 98.

No stamina some people.

Hello 9.1

With regards to the S & T comment. I might not be a fully fledged practitioner of this method, despite my marathon lesson. But one thing I will say is that my ball striking has improved, and the mishits are no where near as bad, as they used to be. I don't practice as much as I'd like, and I don't play as much as I'd like. But my game has definately improved. At a guess, I'm probably at least 12 months ahead of where I would've been without it.

We all have our bad days, regardless of the method used. It just depends on what works for you, most of the time. I'll never be Luke Donald, and without the time and money, I will never have his swing. But if something helps me, without time and money, then it's got to be worth a try.

Each to their own.

I'm disappointed. You really should be more careful on that 16th hole.

C-. See me after class.

I'm sorry, I just lack that little bit of focus. Next time I'll crack it. Promise.

Our roll up is made up of a lot of club cricketers, and whenever someone gets a 'ton' they raise their club aloft. Did manage a nice 50 the other day for the front nine.

Murph genius post. :D but don't blame the back nine. Only dropping nine shots on the front is simply not good enough ;) if you can pop to Suffolk and I'll give you a lesson on how to do it properly ;)

Really liked your post Murph. :)

Disappointed with your effort to not achieve your goal. I expect better from a man with your capability. :(

Hope MikeH isn't reading this post, he may well withdraw us as a GM team for the Volvo pairs leaving Homer and Hawkeye to fly the GM flag :o

Great post.

Tried this myself a couple of years back and I too floundered at 98. Nice comeback after only managing 43 out but I see one way to gain at least 1 shot. On 18 you say you

" Took my favourite shanking club, miss hit it right out of the sweet spot to 12 ft, and two putted for a 98."

A round like that has to finish with at least a 3 putt, especially from that distance. You have to concentrate right to the last shot!

Brilliant post Murph but may I make some suggestions In reverse order of importance.
1: You need to warm up more, you were always going to struggle after scoring 43...You need to be aiming for at least 48.
2: Buy a 1 iron.

3: Get a short game lesson from Timgolfy.

4: Get any lesson from me.

5: Buy a V-Easy. :p
