..well okay breaking 50 because I only play once round a nine hole course but..

Have you broken 100 when you first ever post a score below 100, even if you post 110 on the next round?

How many consecutive rounds count?

My last 7 are all below 50 (see first sentence!) but I still think I could wack a 50+ in at anytime - although hoping not of course!!

When you break 100 for the first time then you've broken it. Doesn't matter if you never do it again - you've done it.
Sadly you havn't yet. You've got to go round your place twice under 100 to do it. But if you can do it once then another 9 shouldn't be an issue.

I've broken 70 (twice). So I've done it but I don't do it every week (more's the pity!) in fact its about 5 years....

The secret is not to put too much pressure on yourself especially for the 2nd nine if you know things are going well. I'd not bother counting the score until you finished so you don't try too hard over the closing holes and make silly mistakes

As others have said, they key is to relax on the second nine when you know you're having a good round and you'll be fine - if you can hit sub-50 seven times in a row there should be no stopping you!

As homer has said, don't count your score as you go, and that way you will be more relax.

Once you hit below the 100 you will find it a lot easier to keep on doing it.

Good luck and happy golfing.

I'd 100% agree with this sentiment, however, if you're anything like me you'll find it impossible to do. I always know exactly what my score is, even if I don't write it down I know Gross\Net & points. I just can't help myself.

I'm reading between the lines here but I think you are saying I haven't really broken the 100 yet because my 50's are on different rounds.

So, if I play 18 and think of it like 2 sets of 9, post under 50 on those 2 sets of nine - then, and only then, can I claim to have broken 100. Right?

For what its worth I mainly play my local 9 hole course to (Trent Lock) not got under the 50 yet though !!
The only time last year I played a 18 hole course last year I shot a better round than any of my best two combined 9 hole scores...
So with that in mind you may find you will get under the ton on a "proper course" (which is what I guess people will think when you say youve got under a ton) no problems at all....
Have fun
Cheers

Yup, I'm afraid so. I've played the front and back nines of my course at level par on different occasions (I actually played the front 9 1 under once) but would never claim that I had ever shot 72. I'm afraid playing 9 and playing 18 are completely different animals. Breaking 50 for 9 holes shows you have the ability to break 100, but doesn't mean you have actually broken 100. There are lots of factors to take into account over 18 such as fatigue, mental tiredness etc.

need to play the full 18. bet we have all played a round when the 2nd nine is 8 shots better or worse than the 1st. take care on your chipping and putting will see your scores coming down.
