Played todays GM Centenary event at Breadsall Priory and Pancho Greg stole the show. 43 points to book his place at Forest of Arden. Well played Greg - couldn't happen to a nicer fella.

Thanks to Michael Weston and the GM Team for a great day out just a shame that myself and Viscount combined couldn't match Greg. Don't know where I left my game but I'm sure someone will find it.

Thanks, was just one of those days where it all went right (and yes I have asked GM for the card back to submit to my club).

Greg was also top scorer of the day. If I remember rightly winning scores in each of four categories were:
Cat 1 - 32
Cat 2 - 39
Cat 3 - 37
Cat 4 - 43

terrific scoring and I have offered my services as Greg's caddy and unofficial photographic biographer at the main event.

Unofficially, there were quite a few low scores so all the better to those who could and did.

My own game was appalling. Where oh where did Monday's go?

What did you think to the course? Played there last year and enjoyed it, the hole that requires a drive over the road was one that sticks in my mind.

Not my favourite, but that is probably influenced by my shambolic performance.

Found the greens to be very difficult to read both for line and pace. Although they ran true I didn't feel they were consistent. Very hilly and undulating - easy to get a bad bounce on a slightly off line shot.

The hole you are talking about is the SI 18 11th, it was also a bit disconcerting having to hit mid irons uphill into a green just the other side of the entrance road on the 12th.

my sixpennorth, mostly answered in a new post re slope rating.

for me it's a pretty tough course worthy of more than its SS 68 - but I play off a flat course.

there are some good holes but also some aspects that I didn't like - too many opportunities to drive blind toward tees and greens - eg around the 12th/14th. Not too fond of the road holes as they are - they need a way of positively stopping traffic and/or golfers.

On some future occasion I'd like to go back and actually play golf there.

T'was a tricky course, but very picturesque. Those blind drives and shots to raised greens are hard, and most definitely a huge benefit to perhaps be a member and learn where to play your shots etc.

I was in the last to one group, so didnt get chance to meet many others, but I did notice those shocking outfits guys,.....Greg's yellow & Purple was stomach churning, but not quite as bad as those Daly Troos .......
*shakes head*

Me.....well, put it this way, I scored my worst Stableford score for many a year, despite about 6 3pointers, and finishing with 4 Pars.....
The rest was shocking

I was so bad today I thought I can't play that bad again so I added my name to the St Pierre list as they still had places available.

Surely I can'y be as bad next week

Still it's got to be better than stuck at my desk.

 will be good to see you, Mal!

Nice shooting Greg - congrats matey.

I bombed out with a 30 pointer at Hollins Hall

I hope all the qualifiers carry the good form forward to the finals - it is going to take a good score to win it on the day.
