Bramley v The Drift

I want to join a club for 2026 and have narrowed down to these two courses. I do not want to play through the mud that is Cranleigh for next 3 months. Can anyone give their opinion on the two mentioned. I know both have ranges too which is a bonus. Regards Matt

I'm too out of date to provide current information. But, its a great time of year to visit both, stand at the back of the 18th green, and see how muddy players are as they come in!

According to AI Bramley should offer much better conditions in winter as The Drift has heavy clay subsoil. But don't take Gemini's word for it...

I was sort of under the impression both Bramley and The Drift both become very very wet in winter? I used to play at Wildwood which is a few miles along the A281 from Bramley and it was a clay pit… New pair of trousers needed after each winter round.

Is Puttenham not a slightly better option?

West Surrey would be a step up in price but is significantly better than all 3 of the above.

Guildford I think is also drier, will cost more, but has other considerations (common land/dog walkers paradise)

I've played The Drift a couple of times in the winter and it wasn't a great experience.
