Boxing/UFC 2018-25

I've only seen highlights of the fight and I must say I thought AJ would have too much for Dubios, but how wrong can you be . AJ was totally not in the fight at all and Dubois literally clubbed the brown stuff out of him .
AJ has got a rematch clause but I really think he should consider not taking it , he doesn't need the coin and still has somewhat of a reputation in the game, get out now AJ for your own good and use your money for a good cause.

Seems to be standard now with any boxing match -a rematch clause to keep the money pouring in

At least the fight was in the UK even if Riyadh was plastered all over the place

The sport was fractured a long time ago now and it’s prob beyond broken now that Saudi have their claws into it

What was also strange was that Joshua was the challenger, but entered the ring second.

When fights are this conclusive and one sided, there should be a clause for the victor that allows them to determine if the rematch goes ahead. Both are prize fighters and Joshua brings the money. Dubois might be very keen to do it all again.

I’m really not a fan of rematch clauses.
Usually it’s the champion that gets the rematch clause,but obviously AJ was the bigger draw here so he got it.
 
Can’t stand AJ, ever since he went on that racist rant around covid - to that embarrassing and cringey outburst after his loss to Usyk. The bloke is a walking contradiction, Eddie Hearn was a genius with him up until that fat Mexican exposed him.

Fans turned on him long ago and I very much enjoyed seeing him get bullied from pillar to post for 5 rounds.

Hearn confirms there is no rematch clause with Joshua & DDD as their contracts are with the Riyadh group and they decide who fights who.
 
Not a fan of Eubank Jr in the slightest as the man is a straight up fraud, but calling out Fish eyes, Kalle and Fast Eddie today at the presser was a wonderful and refreshing watch.

Boxing has been denied some of the biggest fights because of the ego & greed surrounding boxing promoter but it feels like Turki Alalshikh has come out of nowhere and turned the game on its head. Finally, as a long time fan of this beautiful yet corrupted sport that has frustrated the life out of me over the years to almost losing interest, my prayers seem to have finally been answered by a stinking rich Arab.

Great times ahead 👊

As refreshing as it may be, this outburst may cost him a pretty penny.
 
Good Start tonight, Whaittaker v Cameron over teh ropes in teh 5th, scoredcard had it 57-58 58-57 58-58 so a technical draw after Whittaker cannot continue, looking at the fight Cameron was on the up. Great card tonight with Eubank Jr, Opetaia, clarke as well as the main event
 
I miss boxing so much.
I started watching boxing with my dad as a very young boy.
Network TV was virtually in its infancy.

My mom didn't mind the Friday night fights because they weren't on a school night.
She wasn't too thrilled with my dad letting me stay up late for the Wednesday night fights, though.
Thursday wasn't a great day for me in elementary school.

My dad and I also attended live fights in the old Boston Garden,
which are today virtually non-existent in the new one.
Since then, I've attended big title bouts throughout America--New York, Miami, and of course, Las Vegas included.

Until recently, televised boxing was found on America's two largest premium cable channels, HBO and Showtime.

I subscribed to both, and the best part was that these two cable networks also produced the big pay-per-view fights.
The pay-per-view fights were expensive, up to $100 or so toward the end--
but we only had to buy the ones that we really wanted to see live.
We could also record them as they played.

The others, the pay-per-views that we didn't buy-- would then be played on regular HBO or Showtime just a week later at no extra cost.
We didn't miss anything.

Then cable was shoved aside by streaming,
and worse than that,
it was spread across too many streaming services for me to subscribe to all of them

I completely lost track of a sport that I'd enjoyed since the 1950s
and which brought back memories of time spent with my dad.

I've also stopped attending live matches [except, occasionally, for the amateur Golden Gloves]
because I don't even know what's going on.
American newspapers have NO boxing coverage as they did when I was a kid.
The really big fights had front page coverage when I was a boy so long ago.

Times change.
Is watching televised boxing more manageable in the UK?

Most of the boxing is on SKy Tv, subscription but the really big fights are pay per view, this is costing £20 which for the 6 fights is decent imo. You also have DAZN a boxing subscription service who show an awful lot of fights.

I think you're in much better shape than we are these days.
Twenty Pounds Sterling [ I didn't take the time to go to character map to find the right symbol]
is certainly a fair price for a big boxing card.
 
Decent card tonight. Worth the £20.

Whittaker was starting to struggle and the bundle out of the ring was a good way out. I'm not sure he is as good as he thinks he is.

Eubank put in a fair performance but showing his age. Domestic scrap v Benn awaits, if the legal side can be sorted for Benn.
