Right, back in the day, I'm sure this never existed (well, I never heard of it). But I need someone to explain to me, in very basic terms, what the different bounce levels mean.

My 60 degree Nike SV has a bounce of 10....I assume this is high, is this good for playing certain types of shot? What would be the reasons for buying high or low bounce wedges?

I don't want to make an uninformed purchase when I get my new wedge so I'm looking for info.

I know this is probably something I should know about (much like knowing how many clubs I can have in my bag :D) so please feel free to taketh the piss!

Bounce is built up on the sole of the wedge to help prevent the player from digging into surfaces such as sand. Sand Wedges have a higher bounce 10 - 14 to enbale then to glide through the sand and pop the ball out. However, if you use high bounce on a tight lie it is more difficult for you to get the clubhead under the ball and you are more likely to hit it thin. A lot depends on whether you play links or parkland. I play parkland and have 8 degree bounce on my 52 and 11 degree bounce on my 56.

Hope this helps.

Depends if your a 'digger' or a 'slider', I take very shallow divots so prefer low bounce, for example, when I use my 60* with only 4* Bounce, you can barely see where i have nipped it away.......

However, if you take HUUUUGGGE Diviots, I would think 10* or more would be useful for you......

Ah. Ok. Might explain why I get on so well with my 60. It's practically like an episode of Gardener's World when I pitch in with it!
