Played in a matchplay comp yesterday (lost 4 an 3),

anyway i I smashed a fairway wood over the hill and trees and my PP did the same, his shot looked better than mine and when I got to A ball I proceeded to knock it 60 yd to within 10ft of flag. My PP hit A ball and put it 25 ft past the flag.
i marked my ball dropped it in me pocket and attended the flag. My PP lines up the putt and says sods it, this ain't my ball, is mine in yer pocket. He's better than a magician coz it was. He was gonna give me the hole because I was nearer and 4 down. But I said I hit the wrong ball first so it should be halved at least.in essence we dint have a clue, so we had a gentlemans agreement re a half.
having talked about the ruling the general thought was that under rule 15-3 I lose the hole as I hit the wrong ball first.

is that correct please gents.

Correct.

Once you've hit a wrong ball you've lost the hole, so your opponent then hitting a wrong ball afterwards on the same hole is irrelevant.

Cheers gents, lost count the number of times ave laughed at PP painted balls. But ave never seen them hit the wrong ball.
glad it's not really cost me a game though.

I recollect in a 4BBB match, my partner was having a laugh at my expense when I was marking up a couple of balls on the first tee. "Putting your name and address on them, Colin?"

You may be ahead of me already, but guess who played my ball on the 9th and couldn't understand why I had to tell him he was out of the hole?

Could be worse.
Yesterday my playing partner commented that i had hit a yellow ball into the shrubbery, and hit a white one out onto the green:mmm:

In my defence, I was operating on very little sleep!
