Anyone else bored of betterball golf this winter?

We seem to play so much of it and I just cannot motivate myself for it at the moment.

My regular playing partner has been complaining as I'm very average when I'm paired with him and then score much better when I'm playing for myself.

I've just been joking with him that it's a much easier game when I don't have to carry him round but, the more I've been thinking about it, the more I think that it just doesn't interest me half as much as when I've my own card in my hand.

I don't focus or take it nearly as seriously as an individual round.

Still, at least the season is virtually upon us. Anyone else the same?

Thankfully havent played much of it recently, mind you.......havent played much at all over winter !!

Hope this malaise of yours wont carry over to the Volvo Pairs Matches  ;)

Got a team stableford with Hawkeye tomorrow. Combined stableford scores off 3/4 handicaps. He's going to need a 45 point round I think as the range session tonight wasn't good. I prefer better ball as I am a sprayer and so on some holes I can rely on my partner to keep us in contention. I try and loiter with intent until late in the round when I tend to come good with a decisive hole

enjoy it for what is, another format and a chance to play golf. i love playing 3 man texas scrambles on our golf outings. good laugh and 3 chances to get a score on each hole.

Matchplay is a whole different kettle of fish. That really gets my competitive juices flowing. :)

I think it's just that we play so much of it over the winter and I just get a bit bored of it. I love a good scramble but we only get two or three chances a year to play them.

A couple of crap rounds with a card in my hand will no doubt have me yearning for the comfort of someone to bail me out. :D

I dont think that you can beat the banter that a 4BBB game brings but the downside is that it, to some extent, damages your medal round play. It's always tempting to play the impossible shot if your partner is in a good position whereas you probably wouldnt with a card in the hand.
