So I've decided to give in an have a golf lesson at my new club.

I played in the Captains Mixed Stableford today and although I was hitting good shots, I managed only a measly 24 points due to 5 NR's...

As I've only been with the club over two months none of the pro's really know me or my swing, so my plan is to start with a 1/2 hour video analysis lesson so I can get to know one of the pro's and let them see my swing - once they see how i strike the ball I think I'm going to do an on course lesson.

All in all, my ball striking has been around 85% good - its just the occasional brain farts which are ruining the round.

I know I can hit a good shot off the tee, I know I can hit a good iron, I know I can hit a nice chip or chip and run and I know I can hole putts - I just can't put it all together in a round/comp.

Frustrating!

If the ball striking is pretty good then hopefully it'll be more a case of a swing MOT over a couple of lessons to get the small flaws sorted. I guess the good thing about having your pro look at your swing is he is always on hand to ask questions or get some help if you struggle with a drill or you can't put it into practice

shouldnt do you any harm, at the end of he can eliminate the potential horrors and you get out and practise then youll soon be coming tumbling down, you certainly strike the ball cleanly for your handicap

I think it's course management more than anything. I found today I was putting myself in good positions by doing a 9 iron chip and run from 70 yards instead of trying to lob a wedge to within an inch of the cup (which never works i might add) - its just when i get a rush of blood to the head and think i'm a tour pro that it all falls over!
