Does anyone know when tickets for this are likely to go on sale? The website seems not to be have updated for ages.

They won't go onsale until a couple of months before the event but you can get them on the gate on the day, no panic about buying in advance.

A couple of years ago I bought tickets for my dad as a christmas present. Probably did it in November/early December. Seem to remember it was a bit like a 'pre-order' and they sent a nice bit of card saying that the tickets had been purchased but the tickets themselves turned up nearer the day.

If you're on a european pga mailing list, I'm sure they'll let you know as soon as.
