This happened to my car last week. On the same night they broke into 4 cars all within 500 yards of each other on my estate. They also did one the night before on the Sunday night. So brazen, so quick, financially rewarding for them, damaging for others, luckily for me it's a company car not loss. It is scary those that these were outside my bedroom window for some while and had previously been around the estate spotting cars and putting tape over security lights on peoples drive ways and house.
The following night I was awake with our poorly son at 4am so could of easily been face to face with them through the kitchen window.

Are they able to disable the alarm system?
I had heard of Landrover Defenders being attacked for spares, and certain Vauxhall models a little while ago.

The unscrew parts from inside the front wheel arch and spray expanding foam into the horn so no one can hear it then its a case of just popping to door barrel lock out. I've heard rumours they have to wait 45 min for the foam to work so scary to think they go round once, then come back later.

Its not just BMW owners, this is rife with lots of makes and models, even simple things like taking the spare wheels from under Ford Transit vans is common as muck now.

Had the same thing on a previous VW Transporter van. Strangely enough since VW have reverted back to a spare wheel as standard fit it has halted the theft of the spares quite markedly.
Friend has a new Transit, and has had security shields out on the single keyed locked on the van, as the standard lock is too easy to bust and disable the alarm allowing the scroats to remove whatever they want in piece and quiet.
