Well my supposed trip to Region3's backyard didn't happen. It rained all day and neither of us felt like playing for fun in it and I didn't fancy a 4 hour round trip for a soaking!
As luck would have it, it actually stopped raining here for a couple of hours so as I had no work planned I got out. Course was deserted but not too wet. Got about 12 holes in before the rain came - had a good score going so I stayed out.

Anyone else thwarted by the weather....?

Nope, covered range then home to fit coving.
Has anyone tried that?
Dam builders, why dont they build houses properly with 90 degree corners

I had the pleasure to play Calcot Park in Reading yesterday. With the exception of a couple of momentary light misty dustings which didn't even need the brolly pulling, the rain held off for the whole round. The ground was a bit wet due to the overnight and early morning drenching, but not enough to ruin the outing. Thoroughly enjoyed the course, some lovely holes, particularly 3 of the par 3's - which fortunately I bombed the middle of the green on each :). The greens had been hollow tined (and some nasty chemical added that dyed our fingers blue) which made them a bit tricky to navigate, I don't think any of us had any success at putting, but they did only charge us £15 for the green fee (members guest). Had three bad holes on the front nine which ballooned my score a tad, without which would have turned in a sub ninety round. Overall was pleased with my play and really enjoyed the day. The only real down side, for such a pretty course, was the noise from the A4 running alongside, but that's just me being petty. I do recommend the course and am looking forward to going back in the spring next year.

Lightweight shandy drinking southern softie!

We've had rain since May up here!!!!

No it was a lovely day up here.

Went to play Royal Dornoch with my mate GO GO Gordy.

He had a hole in one on the par 3 10th with a 5 iron. 150 yards into a 4 club wind:(

Normal service resumed with a 92 after last times 77 gross. I didn't play that badly either, 3 pars and a birdie to start, but id you miss the green you struggle to get up and down.

Playing it again on Sunday so here's hoping:)

Played Woburn yesterday with Jan (Teegirl) in an Open fourball better ball comp. Weather was awful driving up, but by the 10.00 tee time had just about stopped. Apart from a bit of drizzle not too bad, and didn't have to put the brolley up.

Bloomin' fog this morning!!

Shouldn't really have gone out but it wasn't too bad at the 1st. Got to the par 3 5th and .......
You know it's foggy when you're hitting your 2nd shot to a par 3 and you still can't see the green!!
Stumbled around to the turn and stopped for 20 minutes, had a coffee and a bacon bun until it cleared.

Played with Drawboy and Buggerlugs up at Oulton hall today. Got to be one of the most pleasant rounds weather wise I've played all year. A lovely fresh day with the sun shining all round long.

The weather up here was lovely today, I went out with a thermal base layer, polo and wind jacket but was far too hot by the 6th hole. It was a pity that the fairways where I played looked as though pigs had been rolling in them.

I love Calcot and think its a great traack. The par 3 7th is the pick of the short holes for me. I don't find the traffic too bad although there are a couple of holes from memory that run down the side of the A4 but once you are through those it didn't really register. Shame about the greens as they are usually really good there
