So there I am, giddy as a school boy with my brand spanking new irons and then after a few holes a gale kicks off. We play on but the fact I've not learnt how to play a punch yet means the wind is playing havoc with every shot. Oh well it could be worse...then it gets worse. Heavens open and lashing rain and hail joins the typhoon. My playing partner has no waterproofs and our bags won't stand up. Game abandoned. So disappointed it's unreal. Anyone fair better this weekend?

8&7, thats a spanking!

I managed a couple of hours on the practice area today, thats as good as I got then the rain began in biblical proportions, again!

Weather yesterday was grand - half way round I was hot enough to be contemplating taking off jumper to be left only in shirt. My golf was shi.... though.

Today was also grand - very nice for 15 holes but then the rain lashed in - but only for ten mins or so. Wind blew a hooly for a bit. Golf much better as well. Managed a cracking drive on 16th. Straight into the wind. About 280yds. Unfortunately, wind was such that it was about 180 yards out and then about 100 yards back again.

Saturday windy and drissly, Sundays comp a wash out. 11 holes in, the heavens opened, and within a hole the course was closed. Marooned on 9.7 then til next season.

Friday was ok - had a squally shower between holes 6 and 8 but after that it was just breezy.
Continued my run of form coming in with 38 points(gross 78) - 3 weeks running I've broken SSS 69.
Feeling good - funny tho.. The 2 birdies I had were on par 5's and my drive was carved way right on both of them!!

Was blowing a gale yesterday (only a couple of showers) and that is just the way I like it in our winter league.

Shortened course and soft dartboard like greens normally means that any length and ball control advantage is lost during the winter. SO I love it when the wind really blows cos most high h'caps can't cope with it.

Played lovely and hit 16 greens in reg on the way to a level par 70 for a 3&2 win.

To show you how tough our winter league is - in the 3 weeks it's been going I have shot gross scores of 69, 73 & 70. That gave me a half, a 1 down loss and Sunday's 3&2 win, bloody tough school in our winter league!!

Due to weather, i've not managed to hit one ball in anger since my personal best round 10 days ago! Gutted as i was certain if i could just keep playing that i was on the way to breaking 80 for the first time! Booo to our weather.

Blinking Nora!!! That's harsh, especially the half with a 69!

Course open despite being fairly wet and weather up and down through round but still enjoyable. 15 hole comp as per the norm at this time of year and disappointingly left some shots on the course. My better ball partner had 37 points after 15 holes...hence my disappointment!

Beat me? Hah. Only because I had an off day, and because James came in on the one hole you blew up on.

Any way, you have been mumbling on about your wrist / elbow for ages. Ground too hard to play on etc. Now it's soft, it's too wet. What next, wrong type of leaves?

Went up to the course this afternoon (joys of having a meeting at a hospital near the course) and it was open, no hedgehogs and no temps. Mind you there were only 6 cars in the car park so it looked like everyone had decided to give it a miss. Had a bite to eat and came home. Far too wet and cold on the practice ground (wind into and left to right so not ideal for hitting balls) and the putting green was covered in leaves so I couldn't be asked to clear them off and practice
