Blades

Having used Mizuno mp30/mp60 and not a titleist 690 blade, I found anything with a cavity back gave me a much higher ball flight and a little more distance.

Using the blads is enjoyable for me, as i like to feel the ball, something a didnt get with the cavity backs.

If you feel you are ready, then rent some/buy or borrow some. play a full round or 2 with them and see if you feel the same. As a miss hit with most cavity back iorns will still go a long way and you may not end up in a bad position, however with a blade you will lose lots of distance and god only knows where you will end up.

Try it before you comit to buying it.

I have used Mizzie tp11's and they were the best club I ever had, I was off 9 at the time and sure I had off days but everyone does regardless of the irons used or we would all be single handicap. If you can get the club back to the ball squarely on a regular basis then they will not hinder your game. I cannot see what club design will help a bad swing.
Buying cheap one's isn't a bad idea though.
