I fancy a new big stick for the new season and notice that it appears one no longer needs to take out a mortgage to acquire one of these. The previous £399.99 having been downgraded to a mere £129.99 with the discounters.

Anyone have/had one and if so what are/were the experiences.

I have one in the stock stiff shaft. Feels nice off the face and a good sound. Good ball flight for me, lower than my old ping g20. Easy to change the settings when needed.

I was lucky enough to get a free driver courtesy of Callaway at their Kings of Distance 2014 and went for the blue Alpha driver ( the original one). I found it easy enough to hit and went a long distance but the dispersion was very big, in the end I swapped it for the X2 Hot driver which came with a free rescue club.

I still use both, the driver is really good, in fact, American Golf told me a week or so back that they rarely switch anyone off it to a new club based solely on distance, the rescue club is equally brilliant!

Original Alpha wasn't the most forgiving of drivers. Get it right and it goes forever. Low spin and low flight
Definitely aimed at the better striker but still usable for all if you hit the middle.
Alpha 815 combines the adjustability of the original with the forgiveness of the 2014 Big Bertha - that's getting cheap now and is a quality club.
V series can feel light but is still a cracking club..

I have a Big Bertha Hawk Eye 10*. It's 15 years old, and I generally hit the ball straight and a long way. I paid £4.50 for it on ebay, but am prepared to let you have it for the £129.99 stated. What do you think ?
