Hi all,

A few weeks ago I was ready to chuck it all in due to severe breakdowns and inconsistency (especially driving and putting) but a few of you guys said to take so time off and forget about golf for while.
I decided to have 2 weeks without playing and trying not to think about the game, 2 weeks turned into a little over 3 due to a neck injury. I decided to play Sunday still with a little neck problem and found that I couldn’t get the club to parallel on the backswing due to the pain.
Anyway I stepped up to the 1st tee with the driver and hit a 270 yard drive with a slight draw landing straight in the middle of the fairway with the shorter swing. Thinking this was a fluke I tried again with next shot with the 3 wood and put it on the green!
Next the putt for birdie instead of lining up stood over the ball, marked it and lined up the logo (a technique I read about on here) stood back over the ball and lined the putter head and feet up with the logo. I took a little look at the hole and noticed I was miles out, or what I thought was miles out I went with it anyway, straight in the hole! I managed to hit 11/14 FIR, score 85 and put in the best putting and driving performance by far.
I have since videoed my swing and compared it to before and have noticed there is only 6" difference in swing lengths even though it feels a lot more. So thanks to my injury and a simple putting tip from this forum I have played the best golf in my life and am loving it again! I now hope to get 3 cards in and get my first handicap.

Thanks All!
:D

You hit an 85 and its only now your going for your 1st handicap? :o

Yeah I have only just become a member of my local course last week. I didnt want to pay £350 for the year when its only £7.50 when playing with another member as I wouldnt get my moneys worth, but they have reduced the subs as there are only 5 months till renewal.

Beware the injured golfer. I'm guessing the pain meant you swung slower, shorter and with a better tempo and so it was pretty easy to strike it so well whe you aren't going at it too hard. There is clearly a lesson here which we've all heard before but its a shame we don't always heed it

Couldnt have said it better myself!
