Bernie Nolan dies aged 52...

Yup - sad - beautiful and talented lady. Unfortunately with BC there is no such thing as 'cured' - 'all clear' means just that - but as in Bernie Nolan's case it was still there - lurking, hidden, undetectable.

Very sad news. Scary too. Three friends all recently through breast cancer and treatment. All three are tough as tough can be and "it's cut out, it's been zapped, it's gone" but it remains a worry for sure. I had genetic screening as my Mum died of it when I was just 2 and she was 42. Risk assessed as only just more than the average though which was a relief. Nasty, nasty disease.

Well - as you will be aware with 'cancers' it really doesn't matter how tough you are or determined to fight it you are. All the surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy can only do what it can do - because if your cancer decides it then there is nothing really that can be done after all is done. Fortunately there is a lot that can be done thses days.

Treatment and recovery are so much better know than 30 years ago.
Remember that next time you have a chance to donate.

My wife had a tough couple of years in the 1980's.
She set up a regional Breakthrough Breastcancer group with another lady.
The other lady died of cancer last year.
The the group is still going very strongly [as is my wife] and they have raised well over £1m now.
