Ben Harvey - Dorset County golfer

Ben Harvey sadly passed away last Sunday after losing his battle with cancer. He was just 28 years old and leaves behind a wife and child. I played with him in a county event last year, seemed a genuinely nice guy. Some of you guys may have come across him in county or open golf events.

Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Very sad news.

Someone once told me that you should treat every round of golf as you last one, as you never know what the future holds.

Ben was the same age group as my son and his friends, and known to them through Junior and County golf. They were all shocked by the awful news, he was a lovely guy and very well thought of.

Hard to imagine what Ben's family must be going through - news like this certainly makes you take stock of your own blessings.

That is terrible news, I didn't know he was ill. I played many times with him as an amateur and he was a lovely guy. He will be sadly missed.

Never played with Ben but played in lots of county events that he was also in. I remember he won the Dorset Open a couple of years ago. Saw him at Parkstone in May of this year during the County Champ's, he was just spectating and talking to his county team mates as they went round the course. Another young life taken away too soon by this terrible disease. RIP Ben.
