I was down there on friday.

So you know, it's BOGOF and/or 20% off in the shop on many items.

I can't make it in Jan' but hope you guys enjoy!

I'm not sure the courses are quite that bad but I agree with the traffic noise. I think the Belfry is overrated but the courses don't necessarily deserve quite the stick they get on here.

HTL and I were discussing it yesterday and we both agreed that we wouldn't pay the green fee to play the Belfry. He was made keen to play the 2010 course at Celtic Manor and I want another crack at the remodelled Nicklaus course at St Mellion and we both think they would be better courses for similar fees.

Not played the Derby course, though simple logic dictates that it must be the weakest of the three courses.

On the other hand I really love the PGA National. Though It really could do with those pylons moving as they do create quite a blot on an otherwise interesting layout.

There are better courses that I've played, but with the Belfry being relitively close to home, as a nearby treat it takes a bit of beating especially when I can turn up with a few mates & a couple of two for one vouchers.

I've just had an e-mail off the Belfry & it quotes 69 quid for DB&B&G. Though though that's only for 18 holes on the Derby. So to get two rounds for 79 quid one on the PGA National I think is fantastic.
Had the same email and suggested it to vig. Being the Yorkshireman he is he wasn't happy with that and snuffed out the better deal :D

Looks like it's the monday after though for anyone interested!

If you do get down to St Mellion give me a shout and I would love to join you, it's only about an hour from me. If you could make a couple of days of it, I'll drag you to my track.

Celtic manor is on the list, Squire already lined up ;)

I've fancied the nicklaus track at st mellion since it first opened in a blaze of glory.

The Montgomerie at Celtic Manor is a great little course - bit of advise for anyone wanting to play it though: get a buggy or prepare to walk a long way!

The 2010 looks fantastic - wish we paid the extra for that instead of the Roman Road (which was a bit of a let down)

My right knee is playing up again. Was sheer agony trying to get in the car the other night after work.I know the last time I had this ligament damage the doc wanted me to take 6 weeks off work, though I only took two. And golf was out of the question.

Still think its a crackin deal though.

I think I might see if I can get Celtic Manor booked for my birthday from my mum or HID especially if it isn't too far from when they play the Welsh Open there. Would be nice to try out the greens cut for tournament play etc.

Worst thing about it is that we are smack bang in the middle.

Is it shyness or the fear of the "unknown" :D

I'd love to come but being an accountant I only get sundays off in January. We get quite busy at this time of year!
