Be honest.....

Worst beating I've ever had was 6 and 5 - I've won by a dog licence a couple of times

Lost the first seven holes of a match once though and it went through my head that I was getting near to a 10 and 8 - never been so grateful to earn a half at the eighth.

I've won a 4BBB 8&7 and that's by far my biggest win. My score counted on every hole but the ninth for my pair and we were the away team. I was level par through 12 after eagling it.

Then I went 6-6-6-6-6 for the last five holes, four of them par 4s.

Typical golf, eh?
Pretty much sums the game up :-)

thankfully not (yet) and the biggest the other way was an 8 & 6 victory in a 4BBB. I played alright, my partner played well, but we couldn't have dovetailed better if we'd planned it.

PS - anyone else have to look up what a 'dog license' was with reference to golf? Every day's a school day...

No, but I'd like to know.....

wikipedia said:
Dog License: A match play contest ending with the winner winning by seven holes, with six remaining (known as 7 and 6), after 12 holes in an 18-hole match or 30 holes in a 36-hole match. Named because the cost of a dog license in the United Kingdom before decimalisation in 1971 was seven shillings and sixpence (written 7/6, 37½p in new money), commonly known as seven and six.
