What are the opinions about BBC commentators, the coverage is great but the innane ramblings of Alliss Cotter and Torrance , they say the same things time and time again!
And Linekar as an achor ( I said Anchor!) I have a Beech tree in the garden with more charisma!, and not as orange, at one stage he presented a highlights package, that didnr immediately spring into action and he just stared into the camera, was like being face to face with a gremlin!
What happened to someone who could explain the mechanics of the swing i.e Alex Hay? and a couple of years ago some guy called the swing Dr?
Is it me or is it poor?

I'm one of the first to have a moan about these types of things but I have to say I enjoyed the BBC coverage yesterday. I don't have real issues with any of them myself. I can take or leave Lineker and I can't be bothered with Torrance much but the rest are fine. I like Alliss (he's an institution now) and Brown a lot. Wayne Grady is a bit too Ozzy but does the swing analysis ok.
I think we'll miss Alliss when he's no longer around.

Your right, it's rubbish!!!

Problem is that we've been spoilt with Sky's excellent coverage and analysis, make the beeb look amatuer!!!!

Why oh why do they give airtime to Peter Allis when he is so bitter and twisted towards the modern pro.....hasn't got a kind word to say, and the way he talks you'd think he never hit a bad shot during his unremarkable career.

No wonder Nick Dougherty refuses to speak to him!

I like it actually, no problem at all.
Alliss can be quite funny in a Terry Wogan kind of way too....

Have you ever listened to US PGA coverage ?? Now jeeeeezzuz that is annoying..

Can't remember the womans name, but she was commentating on Anthony Kim hitting a 7i. She says look how far down the grip he is, he is going to hit a low bump and run links shot from 160 yards. Next thing, he hits a towering 7i to about 4 ft, with drop and stop spin. Seems she hasn't noticed he always hold his clubs down the grip.

I thought it was great on the BBC and may it stay on the beeb forever.

as for Sky, don't have it and never will, just creates an elitist audience for sport and excludes the majority of the population from major national and international sporting events.
There are 3-4 million Sky subscribers in the UK,
17 million people watched Andy Murray play his semi at Wimbledon.

Rant over

That made me laugh yesterday.....Nicky Cambell holding a discussion on Five Live about should any one tv station have exclusive rights to any sporting event, the laughable bit was he kept calling the BBC a 'free to air' station.

Eh????......doesn't he have to pay the licence fee???
There's nothing free about the beeb, and if you own a tv, payment of the fee is enforced by law, at least you have a chioce with Sky!!!!

Why do the keep repeating interviews from yesterday when we want to see shots being played. Just had Harrington bringing out the old "can't win it today but you can lose it" chestnut - I want to see the shots!!

Yep, your choice is....pay for your licence, and pay for Sky..............or are you saying, you don't pay for your licence because you have sky?

I think the coverage is pretty poor this year, i have watched about 14hrs so far and still have yet to see, Els, Clarke, Faldo, Lyle, Rose, McGinley, Norman, Duval.

I know not all were playing at the top of their game but it would have been nice to seem some more coverage on the main channel.

I like Brown and James, both are great comintators, Alliss is class and i usually spot on with his observations.

Good to hear Lyle telling it like it is and calling Monty a male chicken. Class....

Alliss is an institution but is getting close to the end. I think the BBC is trying allthese others in a hope of finding a seamless replacement and apart from Brown there isn't an iota of commentary ability amongst them.

That said I think Hazel should get the anchor job back. She is defintiely looking good and has more personality than Lineker and looks better on screen too.
