I am watching the highlights on my iPad with some difficulty this morning due to the unbridled idiocy of Faldo's commentary. Woeful, belittling and laden with mid Atlantic gobbledegook.

His commentating abilities are only matched by his skills as a leader of men. Sir Nick - please, please, please shut up.

I couldn't agree more, surprisingly he hasn't made too many references to some of his great shots over the years, which is what he normally does.

Faldo has many admirable qualities, such as hitting a 2 iron off a downhill lie to a tight pin, or recognising when he needs to break down and rebuild his swing, or keeping plugging away at a round and making the best score he can, but cracking jokes which are actually funny or relating to ordinary humans or team mates are not among them.

His pairing with David Gilford in 1991 is one of the most notorious examples of two players in a pair essentially playing separate matches and there are legion examples of playing partners who say he exchanged two words with them in a round, and those where 'hello' and 'thanks' at the start and end.

In TV commentary, Faldo has a shtick which he uses during commentary and some love his weird Englishness and other just hate it.
