At a time when we'd like to have some confidence in the BBC journalists/editorial control with the EU debate ramping up more evidence of incompetence drifts out on the airwaves

Their natural history programmes feature 'domestic' wolves in the 'wild'. it was previously Polar bears in the studio rather than where David Attenborough seemed to suggest they might have been.

The 'Kids Company' debacle is astounding yet the chairman a BBC man carries on taking two paychecks: one for being employed and another for his 'company' fee!!

Our state broadcaster has now sacked Tony Blackburn under somewhat strange circumstances which coincides with the release of the Saville report. Mr Blackburn is suing the corporation but unfortunately any settlement will not hit the pockets of the management but merely reduce the amount available for making programmes.

It is about time it was taken by the scruff of the neck.

Sadly the beeb seems to have become obsessed with ratings these days, even though it is the only channel that doesnt need to worry.

The recent farce over the BBC3 logo just weeks before it went off air is a case in point of the sort of ridiculousness that goes on now.

And its only going to get worse once the new version of Top Gear becomes a catastrophic disaster.

Way I find ironic about the Beeb is Clarkson was sacked because he hit someone, (and rightly so). Yet Jimmy Saville and others sexually abused hundreds maybe thousands of kids. Yet they never knew anything about it ?
Arrogant and incompetent are under statements.

Of course they knew about it.........it was common knowledge what Saville and his ilk were up to in the early 1970's

Not according to the review by Dame Janet Smith. It was only the junior staff and some of the minor celebs that knew and they were reluctant to speak to bosses. Senior managers weren't told because of a climate of fear.

And if you believe all of that I've got a Nigerian prince that I can introduce you to that is wanting to transfer $100 million out of his country and will pay you 10% if you let him put it through your bank account.

Yup, lets get rid of them and leave our media and news to the private sector, mostly the extremely right wing supporters that control most of our print media. Great idea there, if we are lucky we can even have our version of Fox news, 3 advert breaks every 30 minutes when we try and watch anything on TV and a radio output bland beyond belief as it has to pander to the sponsors. Great idea.

I used to coach a BBC DJ and a London Weekend TV producer in the early 1970's.......they knew about Saville and the other BBC stars [sic]

if the beeb didnt know about saville ,how come he was never allowed near children in need ?
and esther ratzen knew what was going on and didnt have the cahoonas to report it so instead started child line for abused kids .she knew but was scared of losing her job.the whole bloody corporation probably knew and were told to keep stum over it.check out Paul Merton on have i got news for you when saville was a guest ,Merton ragged him something cronic and they had to stop filming as it got a bit heated .its on you tube .or it was .not sure if it still is .

Perhaps you could point out the post that suggested getting rid of the BBC.

Neutral ? Are they not neutral ?

I'm sure everyone can prove the accusations being thrown around right now - surprised no one went to the police back then if everyone knew.

It's almost like de Ja vu when it comes to the slagging of the BBC

Anyone that suggests the BBC is inherently biased needs to take a look in the mirror first.

Times have changed and I wouldn't expect anything like what has happened in the past at the BBC could do so in the modern environment.

I think a few folk in Scotland might disagree, but I do not expect you to view it through those eyes.
Nick Robinson in the referendum and Alisdair Carmichael 'french gate' reporting for starters.
Some of the Corbyn leadership stuff was hardly 'neutral'.

As you say, times have changed since times have changed.

All the cybernat anti-bbc paranoia is an embarrassment. Give it a rest.
