Ball split ?

Given the condition of the ball on the right that would have been consigned to the rubbish heap long before it cracked by me.

Not even a whole round on it, they really are poor.

Update on this , was playing with my mate at Conwy and he had another one split in late January. He took both them back to AG and they exchanged all 12 .
Playing today at Kington and he had another one go 😲😲.

Rather common for this ball especially in the colder months.

The only ball I have ever split was a callaway chrome soft, hit a tree full on but wasn’t only ply a few rounds. Next couple of holes didn’t seem to be flying right then a hybrid towards the green and it split in two. Was also around 2 degrees so the cold didn’t help

I think my wording was off - what I meant was 3 rounds is the most a ball usually lasts for me, so splitting or cracking one isn't an issue.

3 rounds!?! I’m lucky to hold onto one for 3 shots

I have split a couple of Prov1x over the years.
In our net at the club you see split balls all the time, so usage seems right.
Maybe this is why the pros use a new ball every hole, with the pressure they put on them .
I use a new ball every comp then it goes in the bag for social golf.

It’s one of those things , it’s being hit at 100mph so any minor flaw will split it.
The thin shot is the reason imo , then a couple of shots later it’s toast.
