I've just spent the last two days down in Bournemouth playing in a Pro-Am event, and what a great couple of days it was!
Yesterdays round was held at Broadstone Golf Club - an absolutley cracking course. The surroundings and scenary were some of the most impressive I've played in. It was a roasting hot day but absolutely great fun. Played very solidly with no majorly bad shots at all. The greens were my downfall though - very, very quick and I took 17 holes and too many putts to get the hang of them! Still scored well though and walked off feeling very happy. The food afterwards was top notch too, as was the company.
Today we played Dudsbury Golf Club - another really nice course. It didn't have the 'x-factor' that Broadstone had but for a 20 year old course it was a pleasure to play. Another solid round, particularly the front 9 - I was +6 with a triple included (all thanks to a nasty sherman from a nice lie and wedge in hand!) but struggled on the back 9. Not sure if it was fatigue but really found it hard to swing! Ended on a high with a tap in par on the 17th before the real highlight. Hit a solid drive up the 18th leaving me 160ish and with the wind behind thought a 7 iron would be enough. Wrong! Pulled it short into a bunker on the front left. With the gallery watching and being in the process of fixing my bunker-play, the pressure was on. Had a high lip to contend with and was 30 - 35 yards from the pin. To say I couldn't have hit it better is an understatement. Lovely high flight, the ball pitched about 6 inches in front of the cup and stopped stone dead two feet past. What a feeling!
Sank the putt which rounded off a great few days.
Back to work tomorrow unfortunately, where I will be day dreaming about my next round. I love this game!
