As the subject says returned home from a weeks golfing in Ireland last night at 10pm and up at 4.30 to start work today ,yes back to reality.

Had the best weeks golf for a long time played Castlerock x2,Ballycastle x2,The Valley at Royal Portrush x2,The Stand at Portstewart x3and The Glashedy at Ballyliffin all in all a great weeks golf on courses in superb nick,The Glashedy was in superb condition and the best out of the lot playe d the Old Links there last year but thought this was better.

After struggling with my game for while and thoughts of giving up i've found my love for the game again especially after shooting 38 pts of the back pegs at Portstewart yesterday it was 81 scratch with an 8 at a par 5 and a 5 at a par 3 it was the best round i've had with the driver in a long time i even had 4 birdies and 2 back to back on the par 5s 13th and 14th now i'm looking forward to my next comp and hopefully keep up the good form.

Glad you enjoyed it, nothing like playing new courses, especially classy ones. Would like to do something similar but it won't be this year. Have never crossed the Irish Sea, time I did I think.

Arrived back last night myself.

First time over and had a brilliant week.

In addition to the competition rounds we played front 9 at Portstewart on a glorious summer's evening last Saturday (what a spectacular front nine that is!), a practice round at Portrush Valley on Sunday and had a 'Tri-nations' challenge against Sweden and Ireland at the Riverside course in Portstewart on our 'rest day' - Scotland 'A' came last and Scotland 'B' second last :(

Golf was a bit of a mixed bag. Struggled with my putting all week and just couldn't get any momentum going. Shot 31 for first two rounds at Castlerock and the Valley which turned out to be quite respectable as I spoke to loads of people shooting in the 20s. Struggled a bit at Portstewart as I limped to the turn with a miserable 9 points (13 puts for first 4 holes!) but made up a bit on the back 9 for 25. Had kind of lost interest by the last day on the poorer Ballycastle course and returned a pretty feeble 28 points.

Overall, thoroughly enjoyed the week. Met some great people and will be back next year for another go.

Alan
