Just a quick update to say that 8 weeks after I was made redundant I have finally found a new job. Actually received the call at the half way house on the course today (I knwo I should not have a phone on but was expecting to hear) then followed that with the best 9 holes I have played in ages.

Anyway, this is just a quick thank you to all the Forumers who offered me support and advice when I lost my job.

Overall score not great as was stressing whilst waiting for the call but did the back nine in 43. If I could only have done similar on the front 9 I could have broken 90 for the first time.

I was actually surprised how stressful this time off has been. The first week or so was great, assumed a new job would appear soon so relaxed and played alot of golf. After that every day without an interview became more concerning. It soon got to the stage where I actually felt guilty if I went out and played golf because my mind was telling me that there must be more I could do to find a job, even though there was not. At that stage I stopped enjoying my golf and became very restless and frustrated. I started to slip into a phase of sitting round the house doing nothing because I felt so guilty if I went out to enjoy myself. Felt I was letting my wife down by not getting a job and started to imagine the worst. All of this was, of course, totally irrational. I perked up a bit when the interviews started again and now I have a job again, and a good one, it feels like a ten ton weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

At least I have learned that whilst an extended period off work sounds like a good idea, it really is not fun.

Excellent news, really glad to hear that.

Hope you enjoy the new job as much as the golf, although I am not sure that is possible! :p

Congratulations on getting the job GB!

Been there myself, not a nice situation to be in. Feels fantastic when you get that job offer though isn't it?
Seems it raised your game when you received your job offer!

Good luck with the new job, hope it still allows you to get out on the course regularly.
