Winter singles knockout match this morning. I was five down with eight to play and then went WWWHWWLW to square the match. Back to the first tee and was imagining the clubhouse chat about my great comeback victory - then topped my tee shot into the lake. Lesson learnt - don't relax until the match is over! :p

Unlucky.
Am digging into memory and think I birdied the 18th (probably for 1st time) to level a match, then stepped up to long par 3 1st play off and stuck it on the green. Oppo missed poorly and like you was preparing the great escape story.
He pitched outrageously to a foot and I missed birdie. Lost on next hole. Learnt from it.

Played a high handicapper once and lost the last four holes to go up 19th.
The guy then blew it completely.

Moral....Inexperienced players often relax and play well when they think they have lost a match then blow it when they think they can win again.
