Hello all,

As posted elsewhere 3 of us are staying in the craig tara holiday jail (sorry, park).

I have already sought and searched for golf course advice.

Now the other important stuff is:-

1. Where is best to go for real ale/arl mans pubs, somewhere else it was advised that Prestwick is better than Ayr or troon. Is that correct.

2. Which pubs will have dart boards in Ayr (closest).

3. Snooker hall, in case the camp doesn't have any, as the Haven park in Pwlhelli didn't have any last year.

Any other advice also welcome, especially as I like a good beach walk.

Thanks,

We stayed at the ramada in Ayr last year but can't remember any of the names of the pubs we went too, though I ended up in some moody nightclub up a side street off the main shopping area.

Loads of ugly/retarded women in there definitely swerve it.

The Abbotsford Hotel is the golfing pub in Ayr. Just off Belleisle GC
Only two real ales though. No darts but sports/pool room.
Billys Bridges in the Sandgate is the best 'Mens Bar', some may call it rough!
Can't think of a snooker room in the area, too sophisticated!
Wildings in Maidens is good for food, lunches at about £15 a head are good value.
Prestwick is the best for pubs and restaraunts.

Ayr, which nae toon surpasses
For foul mouthed men and ugly lasses [sorry Rabbie]

If you have yet to arrive pack your suncream. It has been scorchio the last few days, 25 degrees.

A week ago we were on the Western Isles, difficult to open the car door and a wind chill of about 2 degrees.
Scottish weather is not boring.

Market Inn in Ayr will probably have a dart board, park by Morrisons.

As my missus is from Ayr and her family is still there I have got this for you so far.

1.harrys bar in Ayr (behind odeon) does real ale and plenty of choice
Prwstwick is good but more expensive...can't think of any oldie pubs in prwstwick

2. Will find out bout darts

3. The davis club snooker hall
New road, Ayr
It's out by the police station. There also a few old man pubs round about they're that may do real ale

Furys is a good night club too.

Hope this helps

Vote for Prestwick here. A new wetherspoons has open in the town with real ales. The eagle and the red lion have pool and darts. You can get drink as cheap if not cheaper in prestwick than Ayr. You have 11 pubs of all types on one one street within 10 mins of each other plus a couple of sit in Indians and a sitin chinese plus the usual food joints

On a warm summers evening the views can be awesome!

This forum surpasses itself again.

Where else can you get advice on Golf courses, real ale pubs, darts, pool, snooker, ugly birds, eating out, poetry (if paraphrased, I presume), fit birds, breakfasts and more.

Thanks for all the help.

Yes, good weather in Scotland - as if I'd fall for that one. You wind up merchants you. If it kills off some of the midgies, I'll be happy. :)

You'll be saying you drink Moccachinos next, don't all have red hair, and like cricket.

P.S. Is culzean castle any good, and any nice 2-3 mile walks along the coast?

No with the lads only, but always room for a bit of culture/me time. i think the £55 will be the Kintyre course, the Ailsa is £95 after 3.00.

Kintyre is not worth £55. Look into Dundonald, its the most "playable" in the area and a very good track. Glasgow Gails is tough as its heather lined but its an excellent track as well and they do an afternoon fourball for £180, (£45 a skull) which is far better value than a mediocre Kintyre track plus its less travel and cheaper food as well.

Another decent track and very very playable is West Kilbride. The back nine especially is very very good and plays right along the sea shore. I recommend it despite the first six being quite bland in comparison.

f you need anything else let me know.

If you park in the Turnberry public car park just off the A77.
You walk towards the golf course there is a metal gate with a kissing gate. This is just behind the 1st green
Walk 200 yards down there and you are on Turnberry beach, you can walk right up towards the lighthouse hole. There is a there is a public footpath through the golf course but don't take it as the path takes you along the runways with no views.

Dunure has a great car park/kids play area, great place to be for a sunset night/BBQ.
Culzean is great but a bit pricey for families if you are not NT members.

Liver....
Not joking about the weather, The last three days have been too hot for golf.

I hope in your case you will not hear the normal landladies quote of ' Ah you should have been here last week'

There is a very popular free kids adventure open air playground on Ayr seafront. Zip slides and that sort of thing. Suits ages 3 to 14.

I know mate, I was only pulling your leg. I go to Scotland 3-4 times a year and have had some great weather up there in the summer. I must admit I was surprised to see that Aberdeen has a promenade though!!

Craw, thanks again for more options, but hopefully our loose plan is to play Greenock (Sunday), with you on old ranfurly one day/night, elderslie, Bonnyton and hopefully I'll convince the other lads to "shell out" for Dundonald, and hopefully a knock after 3.00 with Fat tigers lads. Possibly one other, if time allows.

Thanks for the walk advice, Doon.
