i did a lot of things when i was under 18,but that doesn't make it ok does it, would you let your under age daughter go clubbing till 3 or 4 in the morning with other under age girls,i ran a very large door security firm and the amount of young girls in vulnerable conditions we turned away every night was shocking,if they are going to drink dont let them get drunk and make sure they ALL get home safely

We are supplying a small but happy making amount of alcohol, the kids are not allowed to bring any in, therefore it is a controlled environment the same as we have done for our 2 other daughters in the past.

Thanks for your concern :)

Maybe let all parents know that there is alcohol being served.

I would have been annoyed if, under adult supervision, my child had been allowed to imbibe.

Some people take a dim view of illegalities.

OMG are you telling me that some kids under the age of 18 are being allowed near alcohol!!! You monster Phil, you monster. How can you live with yourself?? I bet some of these 17 year old kids don't even know what lager is yet here you are supplying them with practically neat alcohol!!!

would you be as flippant if your 16yo daughter was run over and killed on their way home after going to a mates 17th party and being allowed to drink alcohol without your permission, then being allowed to make her way home,i know my mate isn't.

With 6inchcup on this one.

There is a clear law on legal age for a variety of things. None of which, to my knowledge, are flexible.

However, if all parents are aware, then I see no problem. I'm not a killjoy.

Rest assured the parents are well aware of what we are doing, it is a model that has been tried and tested and refined by a large number of parents over the last few years.
we have bouncers and we have some young people who are not drinking on religious grounds and we have 1 parent who does not want their daughter drinking.

It isnt a problem

Back on track gents please, going to look at what Maplin have to offer over the weekend as the party is only 2 weeks away

That is a tragic but isolated incident. The vast majority of kids drink nowadays before they are 18, no one is suggesting that they get so drunk so they are incapable of walking home. But in the other hand, just serving soft drinks to a bunch of 17 year olds is archaic and will more than likely result in people smuggling in their own drinks which you can not control. Treat them with a bit of respect and intelligence and allow them to drink in a controlled environment and they will be more likely to drink responsibly and behave themselves. Deny them it when it is more than likely the vast majority of them already get drink in pubs, and you will more than likely get more trouble.
